Snakeskin Discus for Sale

Snakeskin discus have the finest, most detailed patterns of any discus. Instead of a few bold stripes, they carry many thin lines and tiny markings, so the body looks almost like woven fabric or reptile scales. Ours come from Tony Tan bloodlines and are chosen for tight patterning, good shape and confident behavior.

What Snakeskin Discus Look Like

The snakeskin trait packs the stripes closer together and breaks them into fine lines, often with extra vertical bars. Leopard Snake Skin discus combine that fine texture with a red-spotted leopard look. Blue Scorpion Snake Skin discus show intense blue-green lines with a dark, scorpion-like web of pattern. Under good lighting, snakeskins shimmer as they turn, which makes them a favorite in display tanks.

Sizes We Offer

Our current snakeskin stock is near-adult to adult: Leopard Snake Skin discus at 5–5.5 inches and Blue Scorpion Snake Skin discus at 5.5–6 inches. Fish this size already show their finished pattern, so what you see is what you get. They're a strong choice for a show tank or for a hobbyist building a breeding group. Stock changes often, so check the shop for current availability.

Care Basics

Snakeskins need the same basics as other discus: warm water around 82–86°F, soft and clean conditions, and frequent water changes. Feed a varied diet several times a day, such as a high-protein mix, frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. Keep them in groups with calm tankmates and avoid sudden swings in temperature or chemistry. Clean water keeps the fine pattern crisp and the colors strong.

Quarantine all new fish before adding them to an established tank. Our discus quarantine basics page covers a simple, proven routine.

Breeding Notes

The snakeskin pattern is valued by breeders, and pairing two snakeskins is the usual way to keep the trait strong in the fry. Adult fish at 5–6 inches are at a good size for pairing up. Give a pair a spawning cone, very stable water and a quiet setting. Both parents guard and fan the eggs, and the fry feed from the parents' slime coat in the first days before moving on to baby brine shrimp.
